Yesterday I got my new galley curtains up :-) Lighthouses, I LOVE them. They do not block much light... or even offer much privacy, but our windows are tinted and I like them so what the heck.
What a beautiful morning.... Today is another moving day. A new month, a new marina. This morning around 9am we are heading to Bremerton, Port Washington, where we will make our home for the next several months.
We drove the Toyota to Bremerton last night, this morning we will take the boat over, then use the Toyota to come back and get the car and drive it over to our new marina.
Seems like just about the time I start to figure out how to get around a new town we move. LOL.
I am looking forward to exploring Bremerton... a few fast facts;
The Puget Sound Navy Yard at Bremerton, just across Elliott Bay from Seattle, was first established in 1891. The yard is equipped with three dry docks, one of which is the largest building dry dock in the United States. There are three piers in the yard capable of berthing 12 battleships at the same time! They have a Naval undersea museum that I am excited to visit, and I also want to go and take a tour of one of the declassified battleships.. VERY COOL!
The downtown Seattle ferries are a straight shot to Bremerton so guests should have no trouble finding us... Hint, hint.... HaHa
I am trying to look at all these moves as an adventure. Who wants to live on a boat and stay in one place... Right??? I guess the Land Lubber in me thinks I need a permanent address. Silly. Be open to adventure girl! Enjoy the ride...
Well, better wake the Skipper and get ready to sail. Gotta hit the harbor during slack in low tide. What ever THAT means. Oh.. and Ben got a New Lowrance GPS for the boat yesterday... It is the Rolls Royce 3-D of Sonar/GPS. Holy Cow.. the thing will even make hotel reservations for you in Ports and show you views from space...  LOL, poor guy, now if he could just figure out how to run the thing... OMG FUNNY to watch him try to run it  :-)

Tuesday July 26, 2011

Well now I have DONE IT... Yes it is real! I went BACK to the Kitsap mall by myself today. Had a few errands to run... the mall was on my way... tattoo shop in the mall... the rest is history.
I have always wanted stars on my temple.... today was the day I decided to take the jump. I did not tell Ben before hand.... He is gonna be soooo surprised. LOL
I did have them 'shave' some of the hair on my temple so when it grows back the Stars will be kinda hidden by my hair... OMG what have I done... HeHeHe
I guess I DO need a keeper.

Monday July 25, 2011

Rain, Rain, Rain..... thunder and MORE rain.... The sky is falling.....
Spent the day watching movies, watching it rain and nursing our sunburns. OWCH. Even Zoe did not want to go outside. Maybe tomorrow the sky will open and the sun will shine... I am ever hopeful. LOL

Sunday July 24, 2011

Well... Today the fun and games were over... today we WORKED @#^^%^$#@!$$&*
Spend ALL day sanding and re-finishing the wood on the decking of the boat. OMG what a job. I know that everyone says a boat is alot of work.... but holy cow. I spent the afternoon on my hands and knees with a scrapper working on the wood that Ben couldn't reach with the sander. WOW did we get sun burned! Poor Ben actually took off his shirt.... that white skin had not seen daylight for 10 months. LOL. We were both Sooooo tired, but man does the wood look nice. I do not think the wood had been resurfaced since 1972. We managed to get the starboard side sanded and a few coats of oil on. Supposed to rain tomorrow... (what a surprise)... so we will have to wait till the NEXT sunny day to start on the Port side... then there is all the wood around the windows and door. Oh My....

Saturday July 23, 2011

What a GREAT day! Nicole and I meet up in Poulsbo and drove to the Kitsap Mall for a day of shopping. WooWhoo. I have not been in a mall for 2 months!!!! OMG withdrawals.... HeHeHe. Left Ben on the boat to get some work done and us girls went to have some fun. We went shoe shopping, I found the cutest pair of black sandals. Then we hit the salon for a Pedicure. NICE to be pampered!!! Us girls had a great day, lunch in the mall, wandering around looking at things we couldn't afford. LOL
The sun was shinning all day. I did not get back to the boat till late in the afternoon to find Ben napping with Zoe....... He had been working hard on catching up on his rest. HaHa. Today made me feel good. Thanks girls!

Friday July 22, 2011

OMG!!!! I think the sun is going to shine today... WTF???? OWCH. what is that bright light??? It is burning me!!! LOL
I think I am solar powered.... when the sun comes out I just feel better, happier, more energy.
Today I am going into???? Silverdale??? with Nicole to go to the mall and do some shopping, get our toes done, maybe get something waxed..... LOL
I am VERY excited. Gonna leave Ben here to work on the boat..... No BOYS allowed. LOL
This will be my first mall visit in MONTHS. WOW, talk about withdrawals.
I think today will be a GOOD day!

Thursday July 21, 2011

Woke up to fog and rain. Decided to go into Poulsbo to get sow fake sun..... think I will tan today. Ben is gonna go with me so we can hit the Home Depot and Wal-Mart. Still have LOT's of sanding and oiling to do on the woodwork on the boat. If the sun ever shines. $#@#$%^&&
I still need to put another 2 or 3 coats of Teak Oil on the inside of the boat. But gosh it is looking good!
Went up to the marina for my morning shower and on my way back I saw a Doe and 2 Fawns down by the waters edge. The little ones were playing in the water. The couldn't have been drinking as it is salt water. I guess they were just playing. CUTE. I ran back to the boat to get my camera. but of course they were gone when I came back. (I do not run THAT fast)

Wdenesday July 20, 2011

Another rainy nasty day. Ben decided that he was feeling a little cabin fever himself today so we decided to take a road trip. NOT an 11 hour drive around the peninsula..... just a drive up to Port Townsend. HeHeHe
We went to Poulsbo and found a great little restaurant for breakfast, and I mean LITTLE. The place had about 3 tables but WOW was the food good.
Then we drove on to Port Hadlock to visit Nicole, the crazy kid got a hold of tractor and decided to level her front yard. Give a girl a tractor and she will level the world..... or at least the yard... LOL.
After admiring what was left of the yard we drove on to Port Townsend to visit West Marine. Ben and I both got the new fangled life vest. the kind that auto inflates when you hit the water. Holy COW were they EXPENSIVE about a hundred bucks each! But mine is purple so that, of course, makes it worth the price... :-)
Then we had lunch/dinner at a small outside bistro at the marina. Zoe thought it was cool to get to sit outside and eat with us...
It was nice to get out and away from the boat.

Tuesday July 19, 2011

My new bedroom curtains, light green/brown strips. I am so proud they turned out... at all....

Yesterday it was beautiful.. we spent the day sanding and striping old silicone from the boat. Then put on several coats of oil and a new coat of silicone... That should take care of the leaks. I HOPE!!!!
One of the FEW Sunny days we have had and we had to spend it working on the boat.... AAUUGGG. By the time we were finished Ben and I were so tired we could hardly move.
Today is cloudy and cold... where is all of this hotter than heck weather everyone else is having????? I spent all day in my sweats and wrapped in a blanket!

Sunday ~ July 17, 2011

So across the bay from the marina are the docks where they do the maintenance on the Ferry's. Last night they decided to pull out the 'Puyallup' and put her back into service..... Imagine my surprise when I looked out the rear window and saw a  MEGA ferry heading right for my boat!!! I didn't think it was going to turn in time but it did.. this picture was taken from the deck of the boat. I guess once about 4 or 5 years ago a ferry DID NOT make the turn and ran right through the marina... took out a bunch of boats and the outer dock.. COOL.
It has been raining for 40 day... no just kidding.. been raining since Thursday off and on. Right now it is on.. and on... and on. We found a few more leaks we didn't know we had.... I guess that's a good thing. Gotta look at the bright side right???? right????
Yesterday I finished the curtains for the Captain's Quarters... aka, my bedroom. They turned out very nice.. I is so proud of myself  :-)
Today we are just gonna kick back and watch it rain... and watch movies  ...

Saturday ~ July 16, 2011

Started raining last night and it is STILL pouring rain! Woke up this morning to a few NEW leaks in the boat...  :-(
And of course they were OVER the BED! Fortunately the leak was over the spare bed and not over the one we are sleeping in, but I have several kitchen pots sitting on the bed and floor to catch the drips..... oh well.... gives Ben something to do when the sun does come back out! However, as I sit here this morning listening to the news as they talk about the 100 deg. weather that is all over the country... I wonder????? WHY... WHY.... I think the hottest it has gotten here is 57 deg.  WAAAAA.
Oh well, one must learn to embrace the drizzle if one wants to live in the beautiful Pacific Northwest. EMBRACE the DRIZZLE! I think it supposed to rain ALL day. I only have the main salon and galley left to oil inside, I have to wait till better weather, that Teak Oil is so stinky that I need to have all the doors and windows open when I do it. So I guess today is a good day to watch movies, read a good book and listen to the water as it drips into the pans into the bedroom. What the heck.. Life in the Sound....
Think I will work on curtains   :-)

Friday ~ July 15, 2011

Another girl's day in Poulsbo. I meet Nicole for a liquid lunch at the Hare and Hound... My NEW favorite place.... they have the BEST Salmon burgers and Bloody Mary's! After lunch I went and tanned at Apollo Day Spa then spent the rest of the afternoon shopping and checking out the shops on the Poulsbo waterfront.

I LOVE these little tourist traps.... I found a shop called Cargo Hold, WOW did they have cool and EXPENSIVE stuff that you didn't even KNOW you needed till you saw it! I got a brass sign plate for over the Master bedroom that says "Captain's Quarters", a cute anchor shaped brass hook for by the front door for keys and a few other brass hooks for the bath and kitchen. I could have spent ALL day shopping there. Then of course I had to hit Wal-Mart on my way outta town just because.
After weeks of looking on-line for the perfect curtains for the bedroom.. (talk about www overload... Ha... I swear I have looked at EVERY curtain on the web!) I finally gave up and went to a fabric shop and picked out material to make my OWN. God help me but I'm gonna try to sew them myself..... That should keep me entertained. Sewing them, ripping out all my stitches and then re-sewing them.... gonna start tomorrow, I so excited! All in all a great day!

Thursday ~ July 14, 2011

OMG... What a GOOD Day! So today I decided I was NOT gonna sit here in the boat all day watching Teak Oil dry..... I told Ben I was going to go to town and do some exploring! When you go anywhere with a guy they NEVER stop where you want them too.... The cute church hidden away in the grove of trees, the interesting shop with the trinkets and charms, historical markers and the roadside attractions...... So I decided to go this afternoon by myself!
I grabbed a map of downtown Bainbridge Island and hit the shops! OMG what fun. I found so many CUTE little tourist shops  :-)
What a wonderful lazy day... I shopped as long as I wanted.... no man standing there tapping his foot..... I found a perfect little shop that sold Celtic jewelry, couldn't resist picking up a trinket or two... SHHHHH do NOT tell my hubby... HeHeHe. A AWESOME quilt shop, clothing stores and so many other cute little shops! It was nice to be on dry land and 'out and about'!

Sunday ~ July 10, 2011

Quiet evening on the Island. Today the sun was shining enoough that I actually got a bit of a sun burn.. HeHeHe. Spent the day lounging and reading. Working on the Teak in the bedrooms. Gosh I'll br glad when it's done

Tuesday July 12, 2011 ~ 6:30 pm

It has been a quiet day. Ben has been feel a little under the weather... for such a BIG guy he sure has a delicate constitution.. LOL. I have spent the past few days putting Teak Oil on the inside walls of the bedrooms and the bathrooms. It sure looks nice and shinny, but WOW what a sticky smelly mess! I have the master stateroom and master head finished and put back in order, working on the guest head and guest stateroom now. Only one more coat in the spare bathroom and that will be done. Next I move on to the MAIN living area.... that should be FUN.
I have been spending my time as you can see sitting and playing on my laptop, dang that Cityville.... trying to work on my tan, WHEN the sun comes out.... It was overcast today and we did have a little rain this afternoon. I miss my friends.. guess I have been a little lonely. Tomorrow will be a better day I am sure!

Saturday ~ July 9, 2011

Ben surprised me today with a drive up to the coast. The sun was shining and it was a beautiful day. We drove from Bainbridge Island to Shelton, Aberdeen, then Ocean Shores, Hoquiam, Dinner in Forks, then to Port Angeles and finally home again. WOW. Took us about 11 hours to make the loop of the peninsula. It was wonderful to see the ocean on such a nice day. We walked in the surf, even Zoe seemed to enjoy the day and the beach. NEXT time we go I want to spend the night on the coast so we can spend the WHOLE day exploring....
Forks was kinda disappointing... I am not sure if I expected Vampires and Werewolves.... but at least I thought there would be some tourist shops....

Thursday July 7, 2011 ~ 5:30 pm

What a great day! Nicole and I spent the afternoon at the Spa in Poulsbo, then lunch at the Hare & Hounds... YUM. It was nice to get away from the boat for the day.
Tomorrow, we will be back at it... think I will try to finish putting the Teak Oil in the master stateroom.
Sky is clearing up tonight. Hope it is nice tomorrow...

July 7, 2011 ~ 8:30 am

Rain and overcast today.... Beautiful Pacific Northwest weather.... I MUST learn to embrace the drizzle....
Spent yesterday putting the second coat of Teak Oil on the bathroom walls. Starting to look VERY nice. I like it when the wood has that sheen.   :-)
Now we just have the other 40' of boat to re-coat!!!!!! LOL
I have spent the last few days trying to get the app for a slide-show on this 'Blooger' web page to work... GGRRRRRR.. I can not seem to figure it out, but I guess I have lots of time to try to figure it out.
Yesterday we visited a new marina, this one is in Bremerton. Looks like we will be moving again at the end of July. **** sigh ****
It is hard to make friends when you do not know WHERE you are gonna live.
Today Nicole and I are going to go onto Poulsbo and have a 'girls' day. I am very excited.
I am NOT going to give up on the photo slide show.... I know I am smarter than this dang web site..... maybe

July 3rd. 7:52 am

Kinda overcast this morning. Yesterday was AWESOME! I think I got a little bit of a sunburn.
I spent the day lounging on the back deck reading a book, Ben worked on the woodwork around the boat. Sanding and putting on Teak oil on the hand rails. I swear we work harder here than we did when we had 'real' jobs. LOL
Ben fixed the 'slight' leaking problem we had...... The impeller shaft just needed tightened I guess, no biggie..... he just had to go through the NEW floor we put in the main bedroom to get to the shaft. Always something....
I now have bathroom lights in the master head... YAH.. I so excited!!! AND the toilet works now in the guest head.. So slowly but surly it is getting done.
Guess I better take the Zoe for her morning walk and get my day started. I am excited about this weekend. We have a front row seat for the fireworks in Seattle. YAH

July 1st. 7:36 am

Gosh it's a beautiful morning. The sky is just as blue as it can be.
The Vulture of Death... aka the crow that hangs around the marina... is sitting on the boat next to me taunting me, laughing at me... yah well... same to you buddy. I gotta gun! So there.
Tide is on it's way out so the ramp to the marina facilities is only at a 5% slope instead of a 35% grade! Seems like whenever I decide to go anywhere and have to leave the boat the tide is out and that ramp is like almost straight up and down!*^$%&*(#@#%
Ben finished getting all the cabinets in the main salon. AND the new (used) fridge.
Kitchen before

Kitchen AFTER...
I now have 2 Freezers and a bigger fridge... plus more storage... it is so very nice!!! I love it.
We also bought a small chest freezer, and put it up on the bridge. WAY COOL.
We have been here art Eagle Harbor for a week tomorrow... I think I liked Port Hadlock better... But this is just temporary.
Ben is back from the marina with a list of chores, better get breakfast going and start the day..... why are we working harder now than we did before we retired???
