A week has passed since we moved from Bainbridge Island to Bremerton. And what an adventure it has been! Our new marina sits in the Port Washington Narrows.
The Port Washington Narrows is a tidal strait located in Bremerton, Washington. It is through this 3 mile channel which Dyes Inlet drains into Sinclair Inlet and into Puget Sound. Tidal currents attain velocities in excess of 4 knots at times. Because of these tidal currents we had to move the boat into the new marina during 'slack' tide... high or low. So around noon last Saturday, low tide, we decided to pull out of Bainbridge and head for Bremerton.... we made it about 500 yards from the Eagle Harbor marina ... when IT happened... We ran aground! I was on the back deck and SUDDENLY, the boat came to a complete STOP. HOLY COW....  SO there we sat.. boat was to heavy for us to even TRY to push off the sand bar. The water got down to about a foot deep, so I jumped in a took a scrub brush to the hull and managed to scrub the algae from the hull. LOL When life gives you lemons..... We waited about 3 or 4 hours for the tide to start coming back in to 'float' us from our perch.... All in all it was an interesting day. We DID finally make it to Port Washington in Bremerton around 7 at night.
Our new home is a VERY small marina. About 30 boats, 4 or 5 live-aboard. The marina has showers and washer/dryer. We will be here for 3 or 4 months then will move on to Port Orchard. I try to think of all this moving as an adventure... after all, who wants to live on a boat and stay in the same place????
I drove to Safeway by myself yesterday.... getting used to a new town. Heck I will know the whole peninsula soon! Todat Ben is going shotting with Nikki. Getting ready fro Bear season. I get an afternoon to myself... Think I will take a nice nap.

Yesterday I got my new galley curtains up :-) Lighthouses, I LOVE them. They do not block much light... or even offer much privacy, but our windows are tinted and I like them so what the heck.
What a beautiful morning.... Today is another moving day. A new month, a new marina. This morning around 9am we are heading to Bremerton, Port Washington, where we will make our home for the next several months.
We drove the Toyota to Bremerton last night, this morning we will take the boat over, then use the Toyota to come back and get the car and drive it over to our new marina.
Seems like just about the time I start to figure out how to get around a new town we move. LOL.
I am looking forward to exploring Bremerton... a few fast facts;
The Puget Sound Navy Yard at Bremerton, just across Elliott Bay from Seattle, was first established in 1891. The yard is equipped with three dry docks, one of which is the largest building dry dock in the United States. There are three piers in the yard capable of berthing 12 battleships at the same time! They have a Naval undersea museum that I am excited to visit, and I also want to go and take a tour of one of the declassified battleships.. VERY COOL!
The downtown Seattle ferries are a straight shot to Bremerton so guests should have no trouble finding us... Hint, hint.... HaHa
I am trying to look at all these moves as an adventure. Who wants to live on a boat and stay in one place... Right??? I guess the Land Lubber in me thinks I need a permanent address. Silly. Be open to adventure girl! Enjoy the ride...
Well, better wake the Skipper and get ready to sail. Gotta hit the harbor during slack in low tide. What ever THAT means. Oh.. and Ben got a New Lowrance GPS for the boat yesterday... It is the Rolls Royce 3-D of Sonar/GPS. Holy Cow.. the thing will even make hotel reservations for you in Ports and show you views from space...  LOL, poor guy, now if he could just figure out how to run the thing... OMG FUNNY to watch him try to run it  :-)

Well now I have DONE IT... Yes it is real! I went BACK to the Kitsap mall by myself today. Had a few errands to run... the mall was on my way... tattoo shop in the mall... the rest is history.
I have always wanted stars on my temple.... today was the day I decided to take the jump. I did not tell Ben before hand.... He is gonna be soooo surprised. LOL
I did have them 'shave' some of the hair on my temple so when it grows back the Stars will be kinda hidden by my hair... OMG what have I done... HeHeHe
I guess I DO need a keeper.
